So you want a website built but where the heck do you start?
It is really difficult to specify what you features you need or style you want the website to project if you haven’t had a website before or not really sat down and thought about it.
So we have put together a few questions to get you moving in the right direction. These will not apply to everyone and please don’t feel like you have to answer them all before contacting us, they are just designed to get you thinking.
1. Decide on your domain name.
Choosing a domain name can be quite tricky; you can use your business name, your own name, or add in keywords.
You can only use letters, numbers and a – (dash) in the url. It is best to use .com, .co.uk or .org, you can choose others but best practise is to stick with .com / .co.uk / .org and no dashes. Try to keep it between 15-30 characters.
2. Spend some time browsing online to look at other websites, make a note of websites that you like the look, style and feel of. Write down any features you particularly like and think you want on your site.
3. Research your top competitors online. Have a look at their websites, what parts are great, what could be improved. We can use this information to make your website a better experience for your customer and leave the competition eating dust.
4. Get your content ready. The most important part of any website is what written on the page. You need good unique written content, the more of it the better (for ranking in the serps).
